Epicenter Tasks do not run
Posted by Jim Beveridge on 05 December 2011 11:40 AM

(Applies to: Epicenter Server)

Problem: You have defined a schedule for tasks in Epicenter, but they never run.

Solution: Please try the following:

1. If you look at the History view, does it show failure or does it showing nothing (in other words, it never ran?) If it shows failure, look at the error messages.

2. If it never ran, then open Windows Task Scheduler and look at the Epicenter Task (for Vista and Windows 7, it's in the Connected Software category.) Make sure that:

  • the task exists
  • the login name matches your login name.
  • (XP only) the Security tab includes your current login name

For Windows XP, also check the log for the Task Scheduler. It can be found in C:\Windows\SchedLgU.txt.

3. If there appears to be a problem with the Task Scheduler definition, don't change it in Task Scheduler. Go back to Epicenter, change the schedule for the task to be "Never", save it, then edit it again and set it to the desired schedule.
