How to convert address books from The Bat!

Problem: Address Magic Personal does not have built-in support for reading address books from The Bat. You can use LDIF as an intermediary file format, but distribution lists may not convert properly becase The Bat uses the wrong character encoding for the "dn" lines.

Solution: To convert the address book, perform the following steps.

  • From within The Bat!, export your address book to LDIF.
  • Open the LDIF file in Notepad.
  • Select File/Save As.
  • Switch the Encoding to UTF-8 (next to the Save button.)
  • Save the file.
  • Use Address Magic to convert the LDIF file to the desired destination format.
