Convert Thunderbird with separated accounts

Problem: Thunderbird normally separates the email from your various email accounts. When Address Magic converts email from Thunderbird to Outlook (or anything else), the accounts are merged together, meaning email from all of the separate Inbox folders is merged into a single Inbox folder in Outlook. This is done because of the complexity of creating and managing multiple PST files in Outlook.

Solution: To solve the problem, follow these steps:

  1. Create one folder in Outlook for each email account in Thunderbird, plus a final folder in Outlook for the Thunderbird "Local Folders".
  2. Run Address Magic.
  3. Select Messages and click Next.
  4. Select Thunderbird as the Source.
  5. Click the File button.
  6. A "Browse For Folder" window will open. Your current "Profiles" folder will be selected.
  7. Scroll down to the selected folder.
  8. Click the arrow to open it.
  9. Go down to "Mail" and click the arrow to open it.
  10. Select "Local Folders" (or one of the other accounts).
  11. Click OK.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Select Outlook as the destination.
  14. Click the Folder button.
  15. Choose the folder you created in Step 1.
  16. Click OK.
  17. Click Next.
  18. Click Finish.
  19. Repeat this process for each account.

This process means that each of the folders you created in Step 1 will contain all of the Thunderbird folders for that account.

Note that you cannot convert IMAP accounts in this fashion because Thunderbird does sparse caching of IMAP accounts. To convert IMAP data, use IMAP as the source in Address Magic.
