Error: IMAP connection broken
Posted by Jim Beveridge on 15 November 2011 05:38 PM

(Applies to: ePreserver and Address Magic)

Problem: You convert messages to Gmail, then receive the error "[CLOSED] IMAP connection broken (server response)"

Cause #1: Google limits how much email you can transfer in a day. This can happen if you have a large amount of email (more than 1GB.)

Cause #2: A message you uploaded contained a virus and either your antivirus software or Google terminated the connection to prevent the virus from uploading.

Solution #1: Wait 24 hours and try again. This is not a problem with our software. It is Google making sure that you don't use more than your fair share of resources. We have had some reports that you will can get this error if you upload more than 6,000 messages. When you try again, make sure you select Ignore Duplicates if you are running Address Magic. ePreserver does this automatically.

Solution #2: Disable antivirus and try again.
