Although Address Magic can read address books from Thunderbird without difficulty, it takes an extra step convert an address book to Thunderbird:

Start Address Magic Personal.
Choose your source address book.
On the Destination Format page, uncheck "Only show formats for installed applications."
Choose LDIF as your destination. Make sure you pay attention to where you save the LDIF file.
Use the Import command built into Thunderbird to import the LDIF file you just created.
