I can't activate the software

Symptom: You typed in your name and registration code, but when you clicked Next to activate the software you received an error.

Cause: The most common cause is that the firewall is blocking ePreserver. You'll also get this error if you aren't connected to the Internet when you run ePreserver the first time.

Solution: If you are running Norton SystemWorks, ZoneAlarm, Live OneCare, or any other firewall, you need to tell the firewall that ePreserver is allowed to connect to the Internet. Most products will automatically prompt you the first time, so if you answered "no" at some point you'll need to change the setting.

If you can't solve the problem, you can manually activate the software using the procedure described in this article, but takes a little more effort.
