Symptom: When you try to convert your AOL Filing Cabinet, you get the error "Unable to initialize locked file handler."

Cause: Windows configuration problem.

Solution: If you have more than one screen name, go into AOL 9, sign off the screen name you want to convert and sign on to another screen name. For example, if you want to convert "johndoe", sign in as another screen name, such as "bluejeans200". Then run ePreserver again and error should go away.

If you only have one screen name or that doesn't work, please perform the following steps:

  1. Close ePreserver.
  2. Close AOL by starting "AOL System Information" from your Start menu. Go to the "Utilities" tab, then click "Close All AOL Programs".
  3. Restart ePreserver. You can find it on your desktop.
